May 23 marks World Turtle Day, a celebration recognizing the need to protect the endangered sea turtles<\/strong>. This day shines a light on their valuable role in marine ecosystems and encourages people to participate in conservation efforts. Sea turtles have been gliding through oceans for over 100 million years<\/strong>, dating back to the era of the dinosaurs. Early sea turtles bore little resemblance to the ones we recognize today. The eggs typically take 50 to 65 days to hatch, with the temperature dictating the gender of hatchlings. Below 30 degrees Celsius, all hatchlings will be male; above, they will be female, while a balanced temperature leads to an even gender ratio.
